How it works

Convert MP4 to GIF in three steps

No timeline, no export dialog, no upload queue. Pick a file and the browser does the rest.

STEP 01

Choose your MP4

Drop a file or browse for one. The browser reads the duration and resolution locally, in milliseconds.

STEP 02

Trim and size it

Pick the moment, then set the output width, frame rate and colour depth. The frame count updates live.

STEP 03

Preview and download

The finished GIF appears immediately. Download it, or adjust the settings and try another version.

Why browser-based

A converter that never receives your video

Most online converters upload your file to a server, convert it there, and hope you trust their retention policy. This one doesn't have a server to upload to.

Private by architecture

Your video never leaves your device

Decoding and encoding happen inside this tab with the WebCodecs API. There is no upload endpoint, no object storage, and no retention window to read about — because the file is never transmitted.

No queue

No waiting room

There is no job queue, so there is no "position 4 in line". Your CPU starts immediately, and the progress bar reflects real frames.

Real control

Settings that change the file

Width, frame rate and colour depth are the three things that actually control GIF size. All of them are exposed, with no paywall behind them.

Zero-upload by design

We cannot see, store, or lose your videos. The only things this site keeps are a local history list on your device and aggregate page analytics — never your files.

Common questions

MP4 to GIF questions

Yes. There is no account, no watermark and no daily cap. The conversion runs on your own computer, so there is no server bill to pass on to you.
No. The MP4 is read with the browser's File API and decoded locally with WebCodecs. Nothing is sent over the network during conversion, so your video never leaves your device.
Up to 100 MB and 60 seconds of source video, with a GIF clip of up to 15 seconds and an output width of up to 640 pixels. These limits keep memory use inside a browser tab; larger jobs are better handled by a desktop encoder.
Shorten the clip, lower the output width, reduce the frame rate, or pick fewer colours. Every one of those reduces the pixels the GIF has to store. Dropping from 640 px at 20 FPS to 480 px at 10 FPS usually cuts the file size by more than half.
Desktop Chrome 94+, Edge 94+, Safari 16.4+ and Firefox 130+. Firefox on Android does not support WebCodecs yet, so use a desktop browser or Chrome on Android. If your browser is too old, the page will tell you before you pick a file.
It works, but mobile browsers cap how much memory a single tab can use. Short clips at 480 px and 10 FPS are fine; a 15-second 640 px conversion may run out of memory on older phones. For anything heavy, use a desktop.
Once the page has loaded, yes. Conversion makes no network requests, so it keeps working if your connection drops or you go offline.
